The local organizing committee has the function to encourage grassroots participation with the ISSS by people within the immediate geographic area of the annual meeting. In 2012, that region includes the San Francisco Bay Area. Activities of the local organizing committee could include:
- engagement of local organizations with interests complementing the theme of the conference;
- evangelizing the system sciences to individuals predisposed to similar thinking and attitudes, who have not yet connected with this international community;
- guiding the organizing of special sessions or workshops within the normal program of an ISSS meeting; and
- encouraging students to contribute papers and join in learning conversations with visiting subject matter experts.
Members of the local organizing committee include:
|Steven E. Wallis [coordinating chair]||Director, Foundation for the Advancement of Social Theory; Adjunct Faculty, Capella University; Fellow, Institute for Social Innovation, Fielding Graduate University||Petaluma|
|Debora Hammond||ISSS Past-president (2005-2006); Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Hutchins School of Liberal Arts, Sonoma State University||Rohnert Park|
